Hôtel de Tauriac Window display

Millau 2025

In 1633, Jacques de Tauriac, the castellan of Millau, purchased a "badly dilapidated" house that had belonged since 1382 to the Pelegry family—one of Millau's leading noble families. He built the hôtel (townhouse) on the site, almost certainly incorporating the former aula (great hall) of the Palace of the Kings of Aragon. Jacques de Tauriac had two children: a son and a daughter. This display depicts preparations for a festive evening at the Hôtel de Tauriac during that period—specifically, the making of Jacques de Tauriac's daughter's gown, somewhat in the manner of Cinderella. The installation is titled: "1650 – Preparing for the Ball at the Hôtel de Tauriac."
